Last December, after 9 years, I placed my real estate license in escrow. Escrow means I am still a licensed Realtor, I have maintained all my educational credits to keep my license, but I no longer have my license with a brokerage company and therefore I am not assisting buyers and sellers with homes. This was a decision that took me a year and one that did not come without much emotion. However, I knew it was God's choice and I realized that we were embarking on a different season of life.
As many of you know, we adopted our daughter from Guatemala 3 years ago. At the age of 13 1/2 months, only 5 months after we got her home, she was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia. This changed the course of our lives drastically, and it took me right out of my career as I would be caring for our daughter through the next 2 1/2 years of her chemo treatment. This past December that journey ended for us and she is completely and totally HEALED! She is a walking, breathing testimony to the power of God's Word!
So now its January, in Michigan. :) I was seeking God's plan for the next stage of my life, but I was NOT looking for a career. I was seeking the next mission for Dave and I and our family, I was prayerful and asking several times a day, "Lord, close doors that need to be closed and open doors that need to be open. Give us the wisdom and discernment to recognize those doors whether they are cracked a little or wide open and the joy to walk through the open doors and peace to walk away from the closed one's". I can tell you that it was not always easy to walk away from the closed doors....I tried several times to reopen the real estate door as well as some other doors in our life and they were consistently shut tightly. Even when I got it open a crack, it shut and sometimes my fingers got stuck....ouch!
A few weeks ago, I contacted a friend of mine regarding a product she had, I was curious if she had a "skin care" line. After much finagling of our schedules I decided to attend one of her meetings to "try" the product. I was not excited about going to "the meeting", I just wanted to try the product. When you feel good, you are open to hear your Spirit directing you in life, when we feel sick and depressed, your decisions and judgements are clouded by negative thoughts.
